The Refuge I RE MAGI is located at an altitude of 1,760 m, in the heart of the hamlet of Granges de la Vallée Étroite, in the Briançon region of the Hautes Alpes. Italian until WWII, the Vallée Etroite is now part of France in the commune of Névache, and visitors will love its unique Franco-Italian appeal.
Taking its name from the Rois Mages mountain range that dominates the valley, the refuge is set in a lush green valley filled with flowers, and dotted with numerous lakes and rock-climbing sites: the "Croz del Rifugio" and the "Parete dei Militi", an internationally renowned rock-climbing training wall. The refuge is on the GR5, GTA, Via Alpina and Tour du Thabor routes. In winter and summer alike, experienced mountaineers, hardened hikers as well as families will find a wide choice of routes of all levels and difficulties.
Refuge I RE MAGI has an authentic Italian feel, with regional cuisine, a warm, friendly atmosphere and, of course, the lilting accents of the whole team, who welcome you to the refuge to enjoy a meal, a snack, an overnight stop off or even a longer stay. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, organising a get-together or holding a company seminar during the high season or over a weekend out of season, our refuge makes an ideal venue. In summer, the refuge is accessible on foot, of course, but also by car, horse or mountain bike, and in winter on skis (cross-country or off-piste skis), snowshoes or on foot.
