This cosy wooden chalet-style refuge with a warm and friendly atmosphere belongs to the Communauté de Communes Maurienne Galibier, and was built in 2001. It can accommodate up to 24 people (during normal periods). There is just one dormitory, with a number of more secluded alcoves. The refuge is heated and a hot shower is included in the half-board price. Simple, fresh cuisine prepared with local and organic produce. Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian or have other dietary requirements.
To ensure you have a pleasant stay, please book your places in advance.
Bivouacs are welcome. Dinner, breakfast or picnic lunches are available. Please get in touch with us by phone to make a reservation.
For all refuges on the Thabor circuit, summer 2024: Beds are provided with duvets or blankets.
Access
From La Praz, access to Le Prec car park via a well-marked forest track (20 minutes by car, then 2 hrs 30 on foot).
From Valmeinier 1500 or La Praz: 2 hrs from Le Prec car park (forest road - 4X4 required) - 10 km
From Valmeinier 1800 Haut de Valmeinier car park: 4 hrs 30 via Col des Marches
From Valmeinier les Deserts parking in La Chenalette : 4 hrs 30 via Vallon passing below Lac de Roche Noire
From Orelle: 3 hrs 45 from the EDF de la Praz cable-car car park
From Val Fréjus: 4 hrs 30 from the Lavoir car park via Col des Sarrasins
There is a free shuttle service between Valmeinier 1500, l'Armera, Grange Bernard/Chenalette, Valmeinier 1800 and 1850 operating from 3 July to 29 August 2024.
