The refuge

BOOKINGS: 09 72 63 87 48 in summer or online This fully equipped wooden chalet-style refuge belongs to the Communauté de Communes Maurienne Galibier. It was built in 2001 and can accommodate up to 24 people (in the summer season) in a friendly atmosphere. There is a single dormitory, but there are several more private alcoves. The refuge is heated, with a hot shower included in the half-board price. The cooking is simple and natural, based on local and/or organic produce. If you are vegetarian or have other dietary requirements/allergies, you must let us know in advance. To ensure your stay runs smoothly, please book your places in advance on the website or by phone/Whatsapp. Bivouacking is welcome near the refuge. Bivouacker friends, you can have dinner, breakfast and a picnic: please book by phone/Whatsapp For all refuges on the Tour du Thabor this summer 2026: beds will be equipped with duvets or blankets

Access

Getting to the refuge

From La Praz, access to the PREC car park via a forest track passable by car (30 minutes by car, then 2 hrs 30 on foot) from La Praz: path, 2 hrs of climbing, then arrival at the Prec car park and another 2 hrs 30 to reach the refuge From Valmeinier 1800, Haut de Valmeinier car park: 4 hrs 30 via the vallon du col des Marches From Valmeinier les Deserts, Chenalette car park: 4 hrs 30 via the Vallon below the lac de Roche Noire From Val Fréjus: 5 hrs from the Lavoir car park via the col des Sarrasins There is a free shuttle between Valmeinier 1500, l'Armera, Grange Bernard /Chenalette, Valmeinier 1800 and 1850 from early July to late August On-demand shuttles between MODANE AND VALFREJUS: contact the Modane tourist office to book your seats ( nominal fare )
