Refuge du Chardonnet

In the heart of the upper Clarée valley, at the edge of the forest and the alpine pastures, at the foot of the limestone cliffs of the Cerces, lies the Chardonnet hut. Ideal base camp for nature lovers, hikers, skiers or climbers. Comfortably settled in the main room, you can enjoy a healthy and family-style cuisine, to which we pay special attention. For your comfort, small dormitories of four to six beds, all equipped with sheets and duvets. Remember to bring your sleeping bag liner, and don't forget to take a flashlight. Hot showers and toilets inside. Reservation is mandatory. Whatever the type of reservation (adult, child in dormitory or room, group, camping...) We cannot process your reservation requests made by email.

From Foncouverte (upper Clarée valley) where you leave your car, enter the campsite of the same name then take on your left the path that leads to the Chardonnet hut (signpost) via the chalets of Laraux. (400m elevation gain, approximately 1 hour).

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE APPLICABLE TO THE REFUGE DU CHARDONNET: as of 1 September 2025 In the middle of the Vallon du Chardonnet, in the Haute-Clarée (Névache), our refuge has a capacity of 39 places: 6 dormitories of 4 places and one of 6 places, as well as two dormitories of 5 and 6, and camping pitches. Free hot showers are available. Beds are equipped with duvets for your comfort; please bring a small fitted sheet, toiletries and a head torch. You can recharge your phones; Waste management is difficult, so we ask everyone to take responsibility for their rubbish and take it back down to the valley. For your peace of mind, booking is compulsory. Half board includes the night, the evening meal, breakfast and the tourist tax. In the evening, the meal is served at 7 pm in the common room. In the morning, the self-service breakfast is taken between 7 and 8 am. At lunchtime, you can order a picnic and, for those who prefer, you can have lunch at the refuge. Remember to order your picnics when booking or before 4 pm for the following day. Picnics ordered must be paid for. As far as possible we try to meet your dietary wishes (special diets, birthday cakes....). However, any change to the menu may incur a supplement. We cannot provide gluten-free bread. For any booking (by phone or online) we ask for a 20 euro deposit per half board and per person, whatever the type of booking (adult, child, dormitory....). Even a little one (under 4) counts as one person. The balance for your stopover or stay will be paid directly at the refuge in cash or by cheque (French cheques only). Please note: no cards. Booking prices are those in force on the day of booking, for the period chosen. They are expressed in euros, including VAT. We do not accept holiday vouchers (chèques vacances). No bookings by email or by post. Deposits are non-refundable. Please plan to arrive at the refuge before 7 pm; after this time the booking is deemed cancelled and may be reallocated.
